TERRIFIC!!

We purchased our Phil & Ted's e3 stroller (the SP Single w/ double attachment) 3 1/2 years ago in the States when we had our first child. We now have a 1 1/2 year old boy and are living in another country with city streets seemingly worse than most trails. : ) This stroller, with it's double attachment, is still serving our family today as we are excited about moving our oldest child out of it permanently and having a soon-to-be third child enjoying it with our middle child. We have used this stroller multiple times a week (sometimes day) since we first purchased it. Very sturdy and always a joy!
If traveling with on an airplane (we used it in the airport) I would recommend taking it's rear wheels off before handing it over to the airline and also wrapping it's handle with a protective covering. While both wheels and handlebar foam survived, the foam has never looked pretty since then.
We had also purchased the rain guard and travel bag but returned the travel bag as it seemed cheap and pointless and have never used the rain guard as it also is an odd bit. The attachment fitting with our baby car seat though has been used often when our children are that age.
Sturdy, comfortable, practicable. Highly recommended!

Good Stroller

We bought this stoller because we have a two and a half year old and a two month old so we also bought the double seat to turn it into a duo stroller. This stroller is very functional and sturdy. The versatility of it is unbeatable. It is not as maneuverable as my Schwinn Free Wheeler, probably due to the fact that the wheels are all the same size and tires are a little thinner. Also, the instructions are pretty sparse, thougth the stroller wasn't difficult to assemble. The brake is sticky and a little too hard to disengage - I hope this loosens with time. Everyone complains about the sunshade and even though this model was supposed to address this, it is still not great. I may purchase an after market sunshade to accomodate for this.
All in all I like it, but for the price it would be nice if they addressed some of these issues.

So far, so good! Our only regret is why we didn't purchase this years ago (we are expecting baby #5 soon). After using a traditional jogger and double stroller for the first four kids we found ourselves frustrated with navigation ease and stroller "footprint". This
Phil and Teds SP Single Stroller addresses both issues very well. We are avid Disney people, and trying to navigate the parks, etc with past strollers was, at times, mind-numbing. The Phil and Teds with rear seat is smooth, easy to stear (my 7 yr old does it with relative ease) and has a small footprint. After receiving the stroller, we noticed a buckle broken and called P&T for support. They were incredibly easy to work with - very few questions asked - and shipped me a replacement part ASAP. Overall, I believe the quality/build is well above average (however the verdict is still out on this as we have only owned it about 6 weeeks). The buckles for the rear seat are a bit small for my large hands. I understand the latest model has a break (making slow/stop a bit easier on slopes) - but this is minor compared to the overall ease of use and size for what it accomplishes. I will post a follow up review after our next Disney trip in a couple of months. Bottom line - my first take on this stroller is two thumbs up... it makes our life a bit easier!

Brilliant Concept, Poor Execution

I have owned a Phil and Teds Sport since Febuary 08. Now, less than 5 months later, both zippers in the front seat are broken. Part of the plastic snapped off on the foot brake on a really cold day (making it virtually impossible to engage/disengage). The paint is chipping off the frame and (this is mainly just annoying) the plastic circle covering the place that holds the wheel on has gone missing. You should also be aware before purchasing that the plastic rain cover does not completely cover the back seat in the reclined position. Not such a big deal when you have an older child but horrible when rain runs down the back of your 4 month old.
I was really excited about this stroller because we live in an urban area and standing to the side with my MBUD was getting pretty old. I still love the idea behind this stroller I just wish they had better quality control and used better materials. As far as maneuverability goes, it's okay but does not pass the morning latte test.

Almost a perfect stroller just use it right

This Phil & Ted's SP is a great stroller. Most of the complaints by reviewers are due to improper use of the stroller. The double seat set in the back is for use when your smallest is old enough to sit partially upright. If the double seat set in the back position doesn't recline enough, put the baby in the main seat fully reclined and set the toddler seat in front. once the baby is big enough to almost touch the bar over the top of the main seat, it is time to stop reclining the seat. The lack of a rear sunshade isn't any more of an issue than with any other stroller that has an average size sun shade as the lower seat is shaded by the upper seat. If you want more shade, then purchase the
sun/bug shade . A real shortcoming of the sun shade is the lack of a zipper on the sunshade (as opposed to on the rain cover) that lets the kids in and out without completely removing the shade. Slightly annoying but easy to work around. For those who complain about the size of wheels, please note that the entire stroller, including the double seat, folds into a
travel bag the size of a quitar case. With larger wheels the stroller could not fold into as small a size. It is easy to carry, easy to check on airplanes, and easy to reassemble in about 1.5 minutes (without the rear tire guards). There is a ton of room for storage when using the
pannier bags . The stroller is easily manueverable with one hand no matter whether you have one or two kids riding along. Care is required when folding to prevent the foam handle pad from scraping on the pavement, but despite the lack of carrying handles there are several ways to grip and carry the stroller for extended periods. I have traveled with this as the only stroller for my baby and 3 year old on extended trips and have had great success. The only true design flaw is the brake system. A footpedal and cable (like the
quinny buzz ) would fix that problem better than the hand brake on the
phil&ted's vibe and be easier to engineer. Over all a great stroller, just add the accessories.

Love the stroller, hate the instructions!

I have a 17 month old and a new baby. The Phil and Teds Sport stroller is great as they can both ride comfortably at the same time. Two small down-sides are that the break is very difficult to put on and off when you have an infant in the lying down position and the stroller is difficult to bump up onto a curb.
The one thing that I hate about the stroller is the instructons. They are awful! It took two of us much longer than it should have to put everything together and figure out the different features.

To Much Sun

I have a two year old and a new born. In the newborn position, with the double seat on top, all went well. However, with the double seat in the rear position, there is too much open space. Some might think that's good. I don't. When you walk during the day, there is no way to shield the little ones from the sun. When I spent close to $500 on the Phil and Teds Sport, I did not think I would have to shell out another $60 to get a sun cover.(and another $50 for the rain cover) Very disappointing. In my opinion it should come with a rain and sun cover, since there is no way to use it outside consistently. Other than that, I'm happy with it's maneuverability.

Will jog and will travel

I love this jogger. I have taken this stroller through airports with ease. It folds up easliy and pops into place quickly. I purchased this stroller when my baby was 4 weeks old and have used it daily for the last 13 months. The stroller is still in excellent condition. When it arrived there was a manufacturer's defect. I phoned the company and they immediately sent replacements. I have had a great experience with the customer service.

It has it's place

This is my third stroller. My other two are the BOB ironman (single) and the Peg Perego P3. I bought this stroller and the second seat last year (2007)when my second child was born. The reason for choosing this over a double BOB was it's small "footprint" and ability to seat two.
That said, I do not feel it's high price is justified by it's engineering. If you want a well made stroller buy a BOB. If you want a stroller that you can take to the mall with two small children buy this.
Neither of my children liked the baby-toddler mode. This year they take turns sitting in the front and back as neither really enjoys the back seat (visibility is limited.) My older daugther walks more now so usually she gets the back seat when she is tired (I have never had any tipping problems-but she is also very light).
The handlebar bag is kinda hokey and dangles too low, all beverages must be tightly capped. The brake is hard to put on. The handlebars could do with a telescoping feature (In toddler-toddler mode you have to hunch over a bit to reach the handle bars).
The sunvisor is very skimpy and offers very limited protection (really the BOB spoiled me). A removable plastic snack tray would be a nice touch and easy for the company to add on or sell as an accessory.
This stroller is not perfect but with a few changes could be.
What I love is the small size, short turning radius and the narrow profile. Easy to push and turn with one hand, the stroller rolls well. I give it 4 stars because it keeps us all mobile and in one neat package.
