Our Review of the The Peanut Shell Baby Sling

Designed with hip young parents in mind, the stylish and versatile Peanut Shell from Goo-Ga Style, Inc. brings baby slings into the 21st century. Made of smooth and soft cotton sateen and coming in eye-catching designs, the Peanut Shell keeps your baby close and supported - and both of you looking great. This simple yet stylish sling baby carrier has no buckles, no strings, and no clasps to complicate use.

More than just a baby sling for infants, the Peanut Shell can carry an infant intimately and a toddler up to 36 lbs.

The benefits of a carrying your baby in a sling like the Peanut Shell are abundant. Much more than just a head-turner, the Peanut Shell provides you with a level of physical freedom and intimate connection with your baby that strollers simply can't. The Peanut Shell may not have a cup holder, but that's a small price to pay for looking this good while wearing your baby.

Comfort & Convenience features of the Peanut Shell

Infant children fit snugly inside the Peanut Shell's padded pouch - warm, close, and protected. Parents can wear this baby sling in any one of five different positions. The adaptable Peanut Shell baby carrier works as a sling for newborns and a front, back, and hip carrier for toddlers up to 36 lbs.

In addition to its eye-catching array of colors and designs, the quality construction and detailed finish of the Peanut Shell baby sling makes it one of the more comfortable sling carriers on the market. The Peanut Shell evenly distributes your baby's weight across your back and shoulder, creating a comfortable cradle for your baby without straining your back unnecessarily. Every seam in the Peanut Shell is reinforced for durability and a more comfortable carry.

Extremely convenient to put on or remove, simply sling the Peanut Shell over your shoulder like a messenger bag, make sure the fabric is over your shoulder (not up by your neck) then place your baby inside the "shell". Peanut Shell maker Goo-Ga Style, Inc. also included a handy little pocket on the outside of the sling for your phone or keys.

Sizing of the Peanut Shell: Every design of the Peanut Shell comes in medium and large sizes.  To learn which size is best for you and your baby, please click the Additional Info tab below.

Comparison

Because of it's versatility, the Peanut Shell is more like a baby wrap than a standard baby sling. The Peanut Shell has a distinct advantage over wraps in that it is even less complicated and does not need to be tied in any way to place your child in different 'holds'.

The closest comparison would be the Premaxx New Edition Baby Sling - which is similar in function but nowhere near as stylish as the Peanut Shell.

Does size really matter?
YES!!! You really need to have the right size. This is the most important step for successful and comfortable use of the Peanut Shell®. If you have a Peanut Shell® that is too big your baby will not feel secure and will ride too low on your body. This is not only unsafe for your child but may also lead to back and/or shoulder discomfort. If the sling is too small you won't even be able to get the baby in or will feel like you can't breathe. Keep in mind that the correct fit of the Peanut Shell® should feel snug with baby inside and if you are new to sling wearing you may even think it is too small.

Using a soft measuring tape, measure from one shoulder to the OPPOSITE hip bone to help determine your Peanut Shell® size. Also, measure your upper chest circumference, above the largest part of your bust (under your armpits); DO NOT USE YOUR BRA SIZE OR MEASURE "OVER" THE FULLEST PART OF YOUR BUST. If you do not have a tape measurer, use a piece of string and a standard ruler (or metal tape measurer) to measure yourself. For men's sizing follow the same guidelines.

Please keep in mind that sizing is VERY personal and each person has their own preferences. *Most will take either a medium or large. If you have a sizing question, please send us a quick email: info@childcarriers.com and we will help you determine the size you need.

Best Sling

Reviewer: Anonymous , Los Angeles, CA Date: February 25, 2008
This is the easiest sling to use, hands down (and I've tried them all). It is quick to put baby in, folds down to fit in a diaper bag, and it looks great too. I highly recommend it.

look sexy in airports

Reviewer: r.mcintyre , ny Date: December 06, 2007
I am here to tell you I am an official fan of the sling...here's my story. I had read that baby wearing promotes so many things that I want to foster in my daughter. Everything I read says that baby wearing is THE way to start a baby off in life. So we decide baby wearing it is. My delicious and darling sister gives my this sling as a gift. She laughs now and says that she has never seen a gift used so well. I laugh because its true. I have carried my now thirteen month , 26 pound daughter in her "pouchie" her entire life. She knows what it is and will bring it to me when she wants to be in it...She is...key point here!...CONTAINED AND HAPPY!!! =))wow that means a lot. it saves my back the stress of having my hip out of wack to hold her, biceps straining. I went to the mall the other day without it because she is walking...HUGE mistake...I can barely lift my carrying arm today. She is up and into what I am into and aware of me preparing dinner, working, shopping or cleaning...whatever. She and I interact and it is close interaction, face to face the pouch holds her so close...if you breastfeed you can slip the baby down and be covered...I got stopped in the airport by people who said I looked so young and hip...and I am a bit of a dufus I must say. So that can't be bad...somehow I look sexy wearing it....still pondering that one. I had trouble in the beginning getting the right size, I did get the right pouch for us and it is beautiful and sturdy. I am still surprised that the pattern goes with pretty much everything I wear. My only complaint is that it has be be tight enough to feel a little restrictive for mom in order for it to really hold up a baby bigger than 15-20 pounds...but we love ours and I will say this too, my daughter is the only baby we know to have been worn in this manner and her skills far outstretch babies her age. Everyone comments on her independence-her inquisitive nosiness- and her high level of functioning...all things that the baby wearers said would happen...so I say that our sling experience, though ongoing, is a resounding success! LOve OUR PoUCHIE!!!
