Our Review of the Maxi-Cosi Rodi booster seat

The Maxi Cosi Rodi Booster Car Seat has one of the thickest and widest head supports you'll find amongst the sea of booster seats, and its unique look gives it a competitive edge over other boosters.

Maxi Cosi carseats have an outstanding reputation among European families for car seats and boosters that provide safety, comfort, and style in equal amounts. In terms of pricing and popularity, Maxi Cosi car seats could be considered the Graco of Europe. The carseats Maxi Cosi markets are simple, reliable, safe, and sporty.

The Maxi Cosi Rodi is a belt positioning booster, meaning there are clearly labeled guides you thread your vehicle's seat belts through to ensure a proper fit. The easily adjusted headrest of the Rodi makes it very easy to find just the right height for the seat belt, simply slide the headrest up or down until the belt is just above your child's shoulder.

With its extra large side wings, the headrest of the Maxi Cosi Rodi is fantastic for sleepy passengers, and provides additional impact protection. This also makes the Rodi booster one of the most sleep-friendly booster seats on the market. With all these elements working together, and the added bonus of plush, removable fabrics, the Rodi booster supplies comfort, safety, and versatility in equal measure.

Bottom Line: In terms of features and functions, boosters are as simple as car seats get. The Maxi Cosi Rodi has every essential component booster seats need ? belt positioning loops, an easily adjusted headrest, thick padding, and a width adjustment.

The Compass B-510 booster and top of the line Recaro Start have fully adjustable backrests, not just headrests. The Recaro Youngstyle has the best fabrics and deepest side wings of any booster carseat. However, neither the Compass nor the Recaro offer a recline setting like the Maxi Cosi Rodi.

  • The only booster seat that does have an adjustable headrest, adjustable sidewings, AND different recline settings is the JANÉ Indy Plus Booster.

Reviewer: Anonymous , NY Date: November 29, 2007
This is a great carseat, but it does not recline! It says it does, but believe me, it does not. (see for yourself on www.maxicosi.nl > its the maxi cosi Rodi SPS)

Comments from The Staff:

Hi there,
I'm sorry for the confusion. You are correct, I have just now received verification that this version of the Rodi does not feature a reclining seat back. They will be releasing one in 2008 that should feature the reclining back, but not yet. I have updated the description and features on the site. Again, I apologize for any inconvenience. Please let us know if we can help with anything else.

Thank you,
Kelly

4 yr old twins love it!

Reviewer: pleased driver , New York, NY Date: July 24, 2007
I really like this car seat although i do not see how it reclines. The back comes off the seat for when the child is older and just using the seat-but i fail to see how a child could use the whole car seat in a recline position. Notwithstanding that, my 4 yr olds loved their new big car seats and one slept for over an hour. The headrests are big, but they were able to see each other and still talk and able to rest their heads when sleeping comfortably. The seats are light and very easy to install and move when taking them out. They are padded sufficiently and my hard to please twins had zero complaints.
