Our Review of the Chicco Travel seat

Chicco's Travel Seat portable high chair has rubberized grips that won't mark tables and firmly attaches to tables between .75 and 4 inches thick (with a collar up to 6 inches). It can be locked in place on the table. Weighing in at only seven pounds, the Chicco Travel Seat also folds up compactly, so it's easy to take on a trip and can even fit in the pouches of some strollers.

  • Recommended for kids between 6 and 36 months
  • For use with children up to 37 lbs.
  • Extra padding for seat

The three-point harness helps protect your child and keeps them firmly in place. A removable, padded seat cushion made from Italian woven fabrics is the only real difference between the Travel Seat and the slightly less expensive Chicco Caddy Hook On (which still has a seat pad).

A note about safety: a measure of caution should be used when using the Chicco Travel Seat on a table that you haven't used before. Since the seat accommodates children up to 37 lbs., you might want to test it out first, especially on tables with center posts or lightweight restaurant tables, as they may tip. Just use common sense and you will be fine.

This seat is absolutely the best when it comes to hook on seats. Others don't even compare, if I had any suggestions maybe a 5 point harness instead of a 3 point, but I don't think that is even necessary. Clips on/off of table easily. I have had one for about 2 years and using it on our 3 boy in 3 years, and am purchasing my 6mo old niece one for christmas. Clean up is pretty easy I just take a wipe to the seat and cloth after dinner is over, dry's quickly, when I take if off to wash it in the machine any spots/stains I hit with shout and throw it it, still looks like new and has been washed a ton. Can't say that about others we tried. Padding is great and very soft. Again, spend the little extra on this you won't be disappointed! Hippos on the arms are great too my kids like to play with them!!!!!!!

Perfect Solution

I've ordered 5 of these so far, and I'm going to order 3 more. We use them in our classroom for children 18 months to 2 years plus. They are easy to assemble and install and they look nice. Needless to say, it keeps the children in their seats which removes the one major distraction of getting in and out of a chair. Of paticular importance, the child is able to focus on the task at hand. The chairs also define each child's individual space. The chairs are sturdy, well constructed and easy to wipe clean and sanitize. Our kids are used to being strapped into a carseat so getting settled and ready for class is a snap. I would recommend using these 'chairs' for any learning time. Since it doesn't have a tray there is enough open space for puzzles, coloring, and other assorted play activities. As for traveling and setting up, I would assemble the seat in the car first so installing it would just involve attaching it to the table.

Handy, but not effortless

We like ours, it is sturdy, seems comfortable, and is safe but as a concept, is another thing to carry...Its nice to have the baby right at the table, but the chair does come apart into 3 pieces that need to be put together and taken apart. Can't really do it with one person. Someone has to hold the baby while someone else wrestles the equipment. But isn't that the case with most baby stuff? I like the idea of this seat rather than the sticky community high chairs at restaurants, but be prepared to take your time, and park close. The "woven Italian fabric" mentioned in the description, isn't what you might expect. The less expensive version without it might be just fine.
