Our Review of the BOB SUS D'Lux stroller

The BOB Sport Utility Stroller (SUS) D'Lux rides on the same frame design as the blockbuster BOB Ironman jogging stroller. Besides a slight weight difference, the differences between the he SUS D'Lux and the Ironman is a matter of preference. The SUS D'Lux, with its thick tires and treads, is designed for off-road running. This difference aside, the BOB SUS D'Lux provides everything an active parent may need in a jogging stroller . . . and then some.

The BOB SUS D'Lux rolls like a dream over even the toughest terrain and has top-quality safety and comfort features. In addition, one-of-a-kind innovations like adjustable tracking and a fantastic folding system make managing it on road and off a cinch. The rear footbrake offers ultimate control when stopped.

To fold the SUS D'Lux, or any BOB jogging stroller, simply pull the red levers and move the handles forward, then grab the lever / carrying handle beneath the seat and lift. The only jogging stroller that is easier to fold than a BOB is the Baby Jogger Q Series.

The BOB SUS D'Lux is Focused on Fitness

The BOB SUS D'Lux provides fitness minded moms and dads with a unique adjustable tracking feature that minimizes drift while you push. Solid tracking eliminates the need to correct your course while jogging, making every adventure into the outdoors safer and easier. A jogging stroller with properly adjusted tracking will roll in a straight line without veering at all.

The BOB SUS D'Lux offers Deluxe Kid Comforts

Riding on 16" air-filled tires and a deluxe suspension system (with 3" of play) the BOB SUS D'Lux lets you head off-road without shaking your kid up at all.

The BOB SUS D'Lux offers plenty of additional safety features, such as a 5-point harness, handbrake for slowing down on inclined areas, and a rear footbrake for stationary security. BOB provides a unique wrist tether system with all their jogging strollers that attaches to the axle instead of the handlebar. With the tether attached at the bottom you won't take your BOB SUS down with you should you take a fall while running.

In addition to the suspension system, the BOB SUS D'Lux has great passenger comfort features like a supportive and padded seat with a near flat recline for total relaxation.

To top it all off, the BOB Car Seat Adapter makes the BOB Sport Utility Stroller D'Lux compatible a number of popular infant car seats:

Bottom Line: You honestly cannot go wrong with the BOB SUS D'Lux, or any BOB jogging stroller for that matter ? light, durable, straight tracking, and easy to fold, BOB strollers are hard to match. The Sport Utility Stroller D'Lux provides a lighter alternative to the standard BOB SUS, but at a higher price because of its lighter aluminum rims.

Runners who prefer tracks or pavement over rugged trails may prefer the BOB Ironman. The Ironman has slicker, narrower tires and a stronger suspension system. If you want a BOB jogging stroller that is will turn more easily on city streets or indoors, check out the BOB Revolution with a front swivel wheel.

I love my running stroller!

Reviewer: Christa , Stamford, CT Date: October 31, 2008
This is the best purchase that I have made since I bought my new hockey skates back in 2000. I work full time so the time that I have away from work to spend with my family is very precious. It is difficult for me to tear myself away from my daughter to "indulge" in a long run. Now I don't have to! This stroller exceeds my every expectation. It is lightweight and so easy to push. I love to trail run (serious trails, not just flat dirt) and it is a dream, even over rocky terrain. Now I can include my daughter in my passion. She is a peanut at 7 months so I know that we will be using this stroller for years to come...at least until she is old enough to run by my side, hopefully!

I bought this last summer while training for the Seattle marathon. My baby was 3 months old when I put him in it the first time (he's almost a year now). He loves it! I love it because it is light, easy to fold, and has good storage spots. I also bought the rain fly, as well as the bug/sunshield. I have used the rain fly a few times, but never the sunshield (maybe b/c I run early in a.m. or early evening). [The only (and very minor) change I would make to this stroller would be to make some kind of a "lip" at the bottom footrest so when he drops a toy or bottle, it doesn't fall on the ground while we're running.] I bought another baby stroller (Baby jogger) before this one and ended up returning it before we even used it b/c the sunshield was so small, and the particular model I'd ordered had no suspension.

Solid stroller

I'm very happy with this stroller. It rolls easily for running or walking. The ride is very smooth, even on bumpy terrain. You can fold it or unfold it with one free hand. It is wide enough that my daughter will fit in it for years. My daughter seems to enjoy the ride. One thing to keep in mind: to turn, you have to lift the fixed front wheel slightly. This is good for running and a little annoying for walking, but BOB sells a model with a swiveling front wheel if turning is a priority. Assembly time: a little less than 1 hour. Highly recommended.

Love It!

I think the BOB is great! This has been an easy stroller to use from the get go. I haven't had any problems and my daughter seems to love it. I like the pockets inside for her drinks, binkie or a toy. Get the console, it is a must! I also got the infant adapter and it was great to use while she was young. The only thing I would change would be a larger or more versatile sun shade. I got an additional shade from toys r us and keep it in the basket and that seems to keep everyone happy. A great product!

Great Stroller

Reviewer: Tammy , California Date: March 02, 2007
We actually bought the 2006 SUS deluxe, couldnt find it to review, BUT im sure 2007 is just as good if not better. We absolutely love ours! Our daughter is a bit tall, (she will be 4 soon)so we had difficulty finding a stroller that was tall enought for her. This one she fits in even with the canopy over her. It rolls like a mercedes, is sound, sturdy, excellent stroller. I put it together, no problem, by myself, not too complicated. My husband and I run about 4 times a week, 40 minutes each time, up steep hills, each time we use it we marvel at what an excellent stroller it is! It is very durable, our daughter is comfortable in it, it folds up like a charm, lickety split, even cleans off easily,we just cant say enough great things about it!! One drawback....no cupholder or place to lie a radio on top. You can purchase one seperately, but they should have one for the price. For this reason I rate it an A instead of an A+.

Excellent for runners

Reviewer: Bill , Washington D.C. Date: March 02, 2007
Mine is the 2006 version. I highly recommend this stroller. It's lightweight, handles well, and the shocks are actually useful. I've been running with my child in it for the past 6 months (he's now 1 year old), and he usually falls asleep. I purchased the rain/wind guard; it's easy to put on and take off, and works perfectly. I'm almost through a winter in D.C., and again, when the guard is on, no matter how wet, cold, or windy, my kid sleeps. I didn't bother with other accessories - if you spend the money on this stroller, you're paying extra for the higher performance, so why would you add weight to it? I've seen some reviews that wish it had bigger wheels, or that it had a swivel wheel in front. I'm now training for my 2nd marathon since buying this, and the wheel size and swivel have never mattered. Most city runners I know (including me) get out of the downtown area as quickly as they can when they're running, and run along straightaways in parks. So turning frequent corners really isn't an issue.

Worth the price!

Reviewer: J. Lindsay , Houston, TX Date: March 02, 2007
After a lengthy period of shopping around and reading reviews, I settled on the BOB SUS Deluxe. I was a little wary of the $400 price tag, but when I got the stroller I was immediately impressed.

The stroller was very easy to assemble, and once together, it was simple to make the small adjustments needed to ensure it was running straight. I was very impressed with how light it was, even compared to our Metrolite stroller. Then I sat my son it in and adjusted the harness to fit, and we were ready for our first run!

The stroller was a joy for both my son and me. I run on the streets, so the ride for my son was exceedingly smooth, and the shocks easily absorbed any bumps we came across. The stroller itself pushed very easily and held its course with minimal, occasional adjustments. The only distraction from the run was my son looking through the transparent window on the top of the sun shade and grinning like crazy, as if to say, ?Faster, papa, faster!?

The stroller also does well on day-to-day duty. I?ve never had any problems maneuvering inside stores or wherever we may be roaming. It is a bit longer than a ?regular? stroller, but not so much as to make it significantly harder to move through aisles and such at smaller places.

The BOB SUS also stores easily; it folds up with a simple pull on a handle, and is much more compact that I expected. If you need it more compact, the wheels easily detach (and reattach) to make more room. It opens and locks easily from the folded position by a simple lift on the pushbar, and folds open somewhat reminiscent of a TV tray. Very easy.

Overall, I?ve been extremely impressed with the BOB SUS Deluxe. It does great as both a day-to-day stroller and a jog stroller, and has any accessory you may need (I love the weather shield for keeping my son comfy while his mildly deranged papa runs in the cold or rain).

Save your money for this great stroller; it?s definitely worth it!

Love it!!

I love my BOB. It is very light and manageable. I have recommended it to several friends who love theirs also. The only negative is there is not a drink holder. I had to order it separately. This is a must have if you walk or run.

Comments from The Staff:

You're probably referring to the Jogging Stroller Handle Bar Console which is a great accessory! Good pick!

Awesome!

Reviewer: Anonymous , New Zealand Date: October 10, 2006

We needed a buggy that would withstand the rigors of the New Zealand terrain, particularly the rugged mountains which we enjoy tramping and running in.
We could not find a NZ buggy that had the ground clearance or shock absorbing system that the SUS Deluxe has. Our decision was easy once we discovered BOB!

Comments from the Staff: Wow... BOB is making waves in New Zealand! Thanks for the review down there!
