Our Review of the BOB Ironman stroller

The BOB Ironman running stroller, designed specifically to meet the demands of triathlon caliber athletes, is one of an elite group of running strollers that provide equal amounts of performance and endurance. The Ironman shares all the great standard features of the entire line of BOB jogging strollers, and at just 20.4 pounds, it's by far the most lightweight running stroller in BOB's impressive line-up.

BOB jogging strollers have the unique feature of fine-tune tracking adjustment and adjustable suspension systems. These adjustments allow you to correct tracking problems and get a consistently straight push, as well as find the most comfortable suspension setting for your child; making your workout run smoothly. The light weight, one-handed folding mechanism ,and quick-release wheels of the BOB Ironman make it one of the easiest jogging strollers to transport and store.

The BOB Ironman is a genuine running or jogging stroller, intended for use at a fast pace over less rugged terrains. The smooth-rolling, high-pressure road tires, light alloy rims and hubs, stainless steel spokes and slightly stiffer shocks work in conjunction to provide top-notch performance and consistent results. A footbrake helps you stop on a dime.

The configuration of the BOB Ironman, with its thinner tires and ultra-light frame, is geared toward jogging or running on roads, paved trails, or along a running track. If you plan to take your BOB off-road, the thicker treads and BOB SUS or BOB SUS D'Lux will suit your needs much better.

For your little one, the BOB Ironman features a near flat recline, which accommodates babies and nappers alike. The top-notch suspension system keeps kids from being jostled and the premium padding in the seat provides a comfy spot to sit.

Bottom Line: The Ironman is our most popular jogging stroller because it reigns at the top of the pack. Exceptional quality, etc. To sum up: The BOB Ironman can train just as hard as you can.

The BOB Ironman is compatible with the full line of convenient BOB stroller accessories. If you have two kids, or just want the extra room, check out the BOB Ironman Duallie double jogging stroller.

Can't Stop This!

I looked long and hard and chose the BOB Ironman over the BOB Revolution because I wanted to feel that I could train as hard as I wanted and never worry about the stroller. I made a great choice! I am training for a race, and slowly building up speed and endurance with this stroller. The baby likes it, she is 5 mos and comfortable in it--she even sleeps in it! It's fine for city running, today it went over both the Manhattan and the Brooklyn bridges. The only challenge is that with the fixed wheel, sometimes city stairs are too narrow to fit--so you have to stop and carry it. That is the single negative thing that I can think to say about my stroller. I have lost 40 pounds and will take off all the baby weight thanks to the BOB Ironman. Go runners, go!

This stroller is made for kids and running. I can't say enough about it. It tracks straight. My kids love sitting in it. The sunvisor offers huge protection. The wind cover fits well. It folds quickly and easily. It has spoiled me for what to expect in a stroller.

BOB Ironman stroller

The stoller's great. My baby always falls asleep while I run, so I like that it takes the bumps well. I wish it would recline all the way, though. Also, my baby is small so the restraining straps that are supposed to go across her chest, hit her in the middle of the face. I would like a way to adjust those more. I would have liked some kind of holder for my ipod and keys. Also, I would like a better way to hook the wrist strap...it always seems to be getting in the way. But, overall, it's my best stroller. Worth every penny.

This stroller is great. I did a lot of searching online as well as asking people who have jog strollers what they thought and I ended up with this one. I am SO HAPPY I did because it is super easy to run with for me (5'4") as well as my husband (6'3"). Our boy is only 2 months old and we are already running with him in it. We put an inexpensive extra head support in it which easily snapped in around the straps and even going over speed bumps his head does not bounce around and we feel he is very safe in there. We expect to do LOTS of running and a few marathons with this stroller and are very pleased with it so far.

As described

When we bought this stroller my daughter was much younger than the recommended age. She was only 6-7weeks old. The harness was able to accommodate her small size (though I did add a blanket for extra support just in case) She is now 12weeks and loves are outings. We go for a 4-5mile run 3 times a week. It rolls so well, easy to maneuver, and handles gravel / curbs/ branches/ pavement without difficulty. The wheels are large enough, and it is very efficient rolling, even the slightest decline and the stroller requires NO additional force other than steering. You don't need the snuzzlelufagus or whatever that insert is as an accessory. You small child will be plenty comfortable. The sun shade provides excellent coverage. Running into the wind though is a bear, I am considering an accessory to help cut the wind. I love the stroller and if I wasn't short on time would write so much more.

This is our SUV

We have had our Ironman for 2 years, and it has truly been a "beast of burden" for us. I use it to run, do groceries, go walking, go exploring off trail, cross snowy parks, etc. etc. The stroller has held up extremely well. Sometimes it is loaded with our child plus a heavy load of groceries, and it still rides well. The quality of the material is excellent. I would suggest that you buy the plastic rain cover --to make the stroller usable in winter and in rain. We lived in a small community in the far north last year, and I was known as the "tall girl with the yellow stroller who walks all the time." The stroller has been used so much, any other would surely have crumbled by now, but the BOB Ironman is as good as the day we first got it --just a bit dirtier.

Good purpose-built jogger

Reviewer: Anonymous , Oklahoma City, Ok and elsewhere Date: October 26, 2007
Very good, very lightweight stroller. Tracks straight, pushes with very little effort. In fact, on what appears to be flat ground I still need to engage brake or it takes off. Turns easily enough "on the road," but less easily in a store--it's a jogger after all. 2 of the 3 tires went flat the first night after rolling over smooth, mowed grass, but "slime" tire sealant has helped. The tires are thin vinyl (looks like rubber), which seems less puncture-resistant than thick rubber. Folds very easily. Wheels are large, so you pretty much need to take them off to fit easily in trunk. Those same large wheels make bumps seem minor, however. With wheels off, the stroller fits in the front seat of my Trans Am, which I like. Love the yellow color both for its sporty looks and safety (I'm the kind of guy who always wears day-glo reflective belts). Baby harness is easy to use; getting child in and out is very easy. When seated, child's knees seem considerably higher than hips, so I'm a little concerned for his comfort on longer runs, but so far no problem on an hour run. See-through canopy is nice as it allows me to keep an eye on my son. Overall, a very good purchase, despite instantly-flat tires. Can't wait to race it--last race wouldn't permit strollers.

Very Satisfied

Initially I purchased a Baby Trend Expedition swivel wheel jogger because I didn't want to spend a lot of money on a jogger. That was a big mistake! Anyway- after reading many reviews I decided that the amount of time I spend speed walking (and occasionally jogging) that I deserved a much nicer jogger and decided to purchase the Ironman. I could not be happier. I am very happy that I decided to go with the fixed wheel. If you are using the jogger for walking and jogging, the swivel wheel is not needed and the fixed wheel makes for a very smooth ride. The Ironman is built solid, rides smooth, and is comfortable for my 6 month-old son. He will grow into it for years to come because of the weight allowance. I bought the yellow which is great for walking in the late afternoon because it stands out. I would say that the Ironman is well worth the money!
